Kate Jenkins: Kate's Knitalian
-
Overview
Mamma mia! This summer we invite you into Kate’s Knitalian: a joyfully immersive exhibition where everything is stitched, crocheted, knitted - and somehow looks deliciously real. The gallery will be transformed into an authentic Italian delicatessen: pasta, meats, cheeses, desserts - and an interactive build-your-own pizza station, where visitors can choose their toppings and watch the deli scene come to life.
For more than three decades, Jenkins has been transforming yarn into sharply observed, food-inspired textile works - celebrating everyday pleasures with incredible skill with a whimsical edge. This time, she turns her attention to the flavours of Italy, building a mouth-watering world of pasta, pantry staples, plates piled high, and details you’ll catch on the second look. Think lasagne with a basil flourish, tangled spaghetti, ravioli, farfalle, tins and treats.
All artworks will be presented and available to purchase - from standout statement pieces to smaller collectible works. Expect craftsmanship that rewards close looking, and a show that’s as visually satisfying as it is brilliantly made.
From major fashion and lifestyle collaborations to wildly popular food-themed installations around the world, Jenkins’ practice has always been about delight. Pasta la vista, baby. It’s playful and immersive but always rooted in Jenkins’ extraordinary technique and eye for detail.
