Bourke immortalises everyday items which have become eroded by technology, such as postage stamps, bank notes and cheques. Using his signature style of combining photography, paper and paint, by rolling, splicing and twisting, his multi-layered works have a unique sculptural quality, which also cleverly change when viewed from different angles.
Currently based in London, Piers’ works combine his passions for mixing traditional features with his love of design and adoration of geographical heritage. His artwork is a created using a mixture of using progressive print and painting techniques, but with a traditional and time staking approach to assembly and detail.
His multidisciplinary practice spans collage, painting, ceramics and installation, and with a background in photography, it is clear how digital technologies influence Bourke's work today.
